Description
A Transformative era for galaxy dynamics at high redshift: insights from ALMA and JWST
ALMA and JWST are at the forefront of a transformative era in our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution. These observatories offer unprecedented high-angular-resolution capabilities, enabling a multi-phase view of the interstellar medium (ISM), the spatial distribution of stars within galaxies, and new avenues to robustly constrain the properties of dark matter through galaxy dynamics.
In this talk, I will present how recent high-resolution observations from ALMA and JWST are challenging our current view of the physical mechanisms that shape the structure and dynamics of galaxies at z > 1, forcing a revision of our theoretical framework. I will then briefly highlight how these results provide insights into the assembly pathways of present-day early-type galaxies at z = 0.
